A Cupra Formentor 2.0 TSI 4Drive VZ valued at €47,410 was checked for consumption.
Today we have the new Formentor VZ (veloz = fast) with a non-slip sports steering wheel. The starter button is below the right bracket, and the Cupra button is on the left, which you can use to quickly switch between five driving modes. Behind it are elegant shift paddles, and a few centimeters further ahead is a coloured instrument panel that shows the temperature of the engine oil, transmission oil and cooling water at a glance. It’s funny – isn’t it? Not to mention the appeal of well-shaped bucket seats. Or the powerful Brembo braking system, 2,320 euros, which by the way decelerates very well even with the hot discs. It’s not warm here yet. So hit the start button on the steering wheel and you’re off. Under the Formentor’s hood, the 310-horsepower two-liter turbo-petrol engine hums dully. Codenamed EA 888 evo4, it’s widely known in current Golf GTI derivatives.
Plenty of power, plenty of traction – sure, the Formentor gets off to a quick start (000:4.9 seconds), doesn’t drop to top speed, and pushes hard at low revs in high gear. The DKG sorts itself out quickly and smoothly, and it’s pretty stiff in Cupra mode too. The same goes for the suspension comfort of the adaptive chassis, by the way, which is almost zero. The necessary steering effort for the responsive progressive steering and the artificial sound of over-accelerating through the speakers is also strong, and it really isn’t worth having four 310-PS SUVs that unfortunately only have muffled exhaust pipes. What about fuel and maintenance costs?
Our test consumption
Cupra for The WLTP standard consumption of the Formentor 2.0 TSI 4Drive VZ is 8.5 litres Super Plus. He distanced himself from this value in his daily life. The Cupra consumes 7.5 litres on the Eco lap and 10.0 litres on the commuter route. If you move the Cupra in a sporty way, consumption rises to 12.6 litres.Fuel costs are calculated using daily updated fuel prices on our partner portal mehr-tanken.de (24.03.2021 / Super Plus: 1.50 EUR/liter).
monthly maintenance fee
If you conserve resources like we do on the ecosphere, the fuel cost for 100 kilometers will be reduced to 11.25 euros. The rather rough gait resulted in a sum of 18.90 euros. Cupra’s annual car tax is 236 euros and liability insurance is 402 euros. Partial and fully comprehensive coverage cost an additional €159 and €717 respectively. Those who drive the Cupra 15,000 kilometers per year pay 370 euros per month for maintenance. If the mileage is doubled, the sum increases to 653 euros. We ignore value loss in this calculation.
Here’s how it’s tested
The car motor and exercise test consumption consists of three differently weighted consumption runs. The so-called “commuting consumption” accounted for 70%. This is the distance from home to work, which averages 21 kilometers. A particularly economical, approximately 275 km long ecosphere is included in the rating at a rate of 15%. The remaining 15% is made up of sports rider laps. The length is about the same as the ecosphere, but the route includes a larger proportion of the highway, so the average speed is higher. The basis for calculating fuel costs is always the quotations on the “More Tanks” portal on the day the article was created.
Monthly maintenance costs include maintenance, wearing parts costs and vehicle tax, based on an assumed annual mileage of 15,000 and 30,000 km without loss of value. The calculation is based on test consumption, a three-year holding period, no-claims level SF12 liability and Allianz’s comprehensive coverage, including discounts for garage parkers and restrictions for certain drivers (21 and older). At Allianz, SF12 offers a 34% liability discount rate and a 28% comprehensive insurance discount rate.
