Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) has wanted to be faster in the steps to expand infrastructure in Germany. Lindner said on Thursday at a business conference in Berlin that the LNG terminal in Germany had been completed in less than a year. That should be the “criterion” not only for investment related to the crisis, but for the entire transformation of the energy infrastructure.

“Tempo LNG can start in the federal cabinet itself,” Lindner said. Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann (FDP) has submitted a draft law to simplify administrative court procedures. However, “unfortunately” this has not yet found “favor” among all his fellow ministers to be placed on the agenda of the cabinet. Politicians from the FDP had already accused the Federal Environment Ministry of Steffi Lemke (Greens) for delaying the draft. The environment ministry had said that the details were still being discussed between the ministries. This applies particularly to regulations where legal protection should be limited.

The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Germany was completed and opened in Wilhelmshaven on Tuesday. Ships with LNG should arrive in Wilhelmshaven from mid-January.

Lindner also emphasized the importance of tax exemption for 48 million citizens starting next year. In reality, the goal is to deal with the effects of inflation on income tax – the so-called cold development.
