Euro NCAP has published the latest crash test results. Among the crashed cars is a model of the flag under the sign of chevrons. Citroen C5 X got four stars. What was missing for the highest score?
With the development of safety in passenger cars, Euro NCAP has raised the bar in the assessment criteria. The restrictive guidelines make higher scores difficult to achieve, and even the new Citroen C5 X only has four “stars”. On the final evaluation Euro NCAP Electronic security systems played a major role.
The protection of adults and children of the Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobil model was rated at 82% and 87%, respectively. During the test, the structure protected almost all parts of the passenger’s body, except for the chest of adults, in some accident situations. The C5 X enabled the correct installation of all the seats it was designed for.

The new Citroen C5 X lost a star because of the lack of pedestrian protection (69%) and shortcomings in driver assistance systems. In commenting on the test results, Euro NCAP primarily cited the insufficient response of the autonomous emergency braking system (AEB) to other vehicles. The system did a better job of avoiding pedestrians and cyclists and reducing potential collisions with unprotected road users.
The C5 X has an “active” mask to protect pedestrians, the car also has a driver fatigue detection system and a lane control system that gently adjusts the lane if the car leaves its lane and intervenes in other worse situations.
